Situated at the pier, next to Longhope RNLI station, is the local Post Office and Licensed General Store "J M F Groat & Son", open 9-12:30 & 2-6pm Monday to Saturday closed on Sunday. Groat's stock a wide variety of general provisions including fresh local produce, toiletry items, a good selection of beers, wines & spirits, video rental and fuel. Groat's accept major cards or cheques, cash can be withdrawn at the Post Office or request "cash back" at the till. Just past the War Memorial on a Thursday evening from 4-7 you will find a mobile Fish & Chip wagon. Along the coast road on the right is the Medical Centre, a little further along is St Columba's Church and on the left is the "YM" our Community Centre where bingo, quiz nights, music and dances lively up a Friday or Saturday night. |
